RV Camping in Your Own 'Backyard’

Merriam-Webster defines vacation as "A period spent away from home...in recreation."

Nowhere does it say you have to go far.

For many years, my husband Garth and I have traveled the country in our little 24-foot motorhome, along with our golden retrievers, first Mia and now Chase. We've even taken our cat, Jack Black the Cemetery Cat.

Long before the pandemic kept everyone close to home, we discovered that some of the most relaxing, enjoyable camping trips were within minutes of our home. We soon learned to ignore the scoffers and instead patted ourselves on the backs for taking the stress out of traveling. We simply didn't have to travel far. And neither do you.

Thanks for joining us on RV Camping in Your Own 'Backyard' where I'll share our experiences, our opinions on the best campsites to reserve, clever camping gear and gizmos, tried-and-true hacks, secret hikes, camp recipes, camping with pets and kids, things to avoid, and things you won't want to miss.

Don’t own an RV but just want to try one out? No problem. There are several RV rental companies on the Central Coast that will either rent you a motorhome or deliver and set up a trailer of your choosing to a number of local campgrounds. Easy!

I hope you'll enjoy traveling with us. And we'll see you camping! We'll be the ones with the exuberant golden retriever greeter.
